Stephen Prokopovych Timoshenko (1878-1972)
Stephen P. Tymoshenko is one of the World's most famous scientists in the field of mechanical science.
In the past hundred years of education in mechanical engineering and naval architecture many people have left their mark..... students and their parents, graduate engineers and their professors, people who contributed their skills and knowledge to the development of engineering and society, people who have made a difference. Since the first students began their studies at the Royal Technical College in 1919, including the years of planning preceding the actual beginning of the first academic year, thousands of people have contributed to the formation of this prestigious higher education institution.
The present-day Faculty grew out of one hundred generations of students, numerous original research projects, designing and developing infrastructure, ships and trains, plants and machines, helping other people, volunteering in the community, founding and developing Faculty laboratories, establishing student associations and many other activities.
To mark the 100th anniversary we invite students, staff members and former students of the Faculty to send stories about individuals they believe significantly contributed to the development and success of the Faculty and the betterment of society. Tell us a story about a person, course of study, profession; a story that should not be forgotten. Take part in the FSB100 project, support your Faculty, and contribute to its 100th anniversary. How can you do that? Find more information here.
The Giants of FSB are outstanding professors and researchers, engineers and humanists who have shared their knowledge and wisdom making beneficial impact in the community. Our Deans, Rectors and Emeriti are also here.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary we present stories of our exceptional colleagues who have created, are creating or will create new value and knowledge. The short stories illustrate both their interests and the broadness of the field of engineering.
To mark this milestone, the Faculty has launched year-round events and activities, beginning with the new website launch. A series of events are included to encourage intellectual debates on our society, engineering and our study programmes: academic events, roundtables, lectures, symposia, workshops and exhibitions. So, whether you’re a student or a current or former staff member, a stakeholder, partner or live in the local community, join us to become a 100th anniversary event organiser!
