The main objective of the project CRTA is to establish the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotics as a reference center for research, development and education in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. The activities of the Center will be directed towards the research and development of advanced robotics applications in industry and medicine.
CRTA will provide superior working and educational conditions for scientists, students, engineers and medical staff, and at the same time will serve as a platform for the development, testing and improvement of new robotic solutions and engineering methods.
It will integrate laboratories for industrial, medical and humanoid robotics as well as a practicum for automation programming and modern classrooms. As part of the Medical Robotics Laboratory, a reliable copy of the surgical theatre is provided, which will enable preclinical testing of robotics in medicine. The Center is conceived as a regional center that will attract researchers, primarily from the region, but also from across Europe, based on their infrastructure and advanced projects. This means more people in the process of research from different educational and scientific traditions that will create interdisciplinary and multicultural teams with the aim of promoting scientific productivity and fostering innovation development. Additionally, CRTA will be open to the public, as a place of dissemination of technical and robotic culture, primarily for secondary and primary school students as well as for all others.
The CRTA project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund with a total value of HRK 36,994,416.32. Opening of the Center is expected by the end of 2019.
